Emily Hunt Showreel

Professionally Emily Hunt works in communications and evidence-based strategy. She has worked with big companies from Apple to Unilever and calls herself a data storyteller.

As a US/UK citizen she is very interested in international politics and current affairs. And as a data strategist she’s been able to predict some major events and was convinced that if it rained on referendum day, the UK would be leaving the EU. It rained, and they’re leaving.

Emily speaks on a variety of topics, including:

  • Headache, or my adventures with the glass ceiling

  • Data storytelling

  • The Age of Anger

  • What the f*ck just happened? How technology is - and isn't - contributing to growing intolerance

  • With vulnerability comes the power to change the world

The age of anger: #datastorytelling uncovers what is happening in the world and why it matters

We aren't just living in a post-fact era, we're living in a post-trust era. All of the data Emily has gathered points to a new Age of Anger, and this low level anger permeates all aspects of our lives. As a result, companies need to dramatically shift the way they communicate with their customers, their targets, and even their employees. And as people, we need to recognise that

In this keynote, Emily unravels the data, proves the trend, shows why it matters and provides some suggestions. Click through to a shorter version of this talk that Emily gave at the Institute of Directors.

With vulnerability comes the power to change the world

Emily stepped on to a stage in late 2017 and waived her anonymity to tell a very personal story: Two and half years earlier, she had been drugged and raped by a stranger. Though the police were called immediately and Emily did everything right, the CPS declined to charge.

But that's not the whole story, not even a little bit. Now she's crowdfunding to privately prosecute her rapist - and has found a new faith in humanity as she meets supporters in the unlikeliest of places. Listen to Emily explain how her new power and hope comes from her most vulnerable moment. And how she uses that vulnerability to force change in the world, and in herself.

Emily has been featured on ITV's This Morning, BBC's Victoria Live and Channel 5's MeToo Debate.
